When most ladies get engaged the first thing they want to do is visit a Bridal Show or for others the thought of going anywhere near a Wedding show gives them hives! However, visiting a wedding show is a great way of opening your mind to different ideas, things you probably would never have thought of. I have a few tips Brides shoulf keep in mind before they go…
First thing, bring someone with you, your Mum, a friend or wedding planner because the one thing about a wedding show is that they can be over whelming! Depending on the size of the show you will need someone to keep your on an even keel and balanced, plus it is always a help to have a second opinion when it comes to making important decisions.
The next thing is make a list. There is so much to organise when it comes to your wedding day, you need to go to a show prepared otherwise you will come away forgetting something. If there is something you know for sure that you would like, do some research before you attend so you have more knowledge and information when it comes to prices, that way then you can challenge the ventor on the price!
Finally, bring a pen and check book! Vendors will be handing out postcards and leaflets with their contact information and discounts. As you work your way around the wedding show alot of vendors offer one off discounts on the spot so it is important to keep notes, while working your way down the list so you will know who is who?!
It is that time of year when the Violets Attic team will be attending many different wedding shows. The first for 2014 is on Thursday 6 March at Wardens Newtownards. It is a small local show with everything from Bridal fashion and Mother of the Bride to Menswear and Morgage advice, plus Wardens is a great place to have your wedding list! We will be there too with incentives and information about why you should have your Hen party with us! The show starts at 6pm to 9pm, FREE entry and FREE parking!
If you are a Bride or know a Bride, come along it would be great to see you there!

Good afternoon ladies, can you believe we are in the month of May. That means only two things, the start of our so called summer and the beginning of the Bridal season. Already the appointments are mounting and the dates are disappearing on the months up to October. One thing I have noticed is how many super organised Brides there are, making me realise I am a laid back Bride!
For those who don’t know I am due to be married in September and the next thing to organise is the all important night with ladies.. the hen party! Hmm what to do for the hen party? I know, what I want is to be pampered, spoiled, to have fun and have a giggle with the girls. With this in mind, I started surfing the internet and looking at different hen websites for ideas and have to admit I found the task of choosing something I knew everyone would enjoy, difficult. This then got me thinking.. I decided it is best to hand the reins over to Donna (My Bridesmaid)!
All jokes aside it really did get me thinking of different ideas I could bring to Violets Attic for other hen parties to enjoy. This is how the idea for Group Make-Up lessons came about so if it’s fun you are after, this is the hen party choice for your girls.
What girl do you know doesn’t enjoy playing with make-up!? Bring along your make-up bag and discover the tricks of the trade! You will gain the knowledge of 2 different looks, one being an everyday look and the other being a choice of red carpet, smouldering eyes, 20′s, 30′s, 40′s, 50′s or 60′s the choice is yours!
Your time will begin with a chilled glass of bubbly and a little nibble on one our delicious homemade cupcakes. Then the lesson begins with a demonstration and short chat about how your make-up should be applied, after that… it’s your turn! It is up to you if you wish to makeover each other or make-over yourself. One thing is for sure, the beautiful Bride to be and her hens will be ready to rock the town by the evening!
If you like this idea for you and your friends, it doesn’t have to be just for a hen party it can be for any party! Please browse through our packages for more information.
Happy belated new year everyone! I am happy to tell you 2013 has begun with a very busy start for Violets Attic. So far we have photo shoots, Vintage fairs, Bridal fairs, birthday parties booked and a lot of hen party enquiries.. very exciting! I have been lucky to meet some lovely people and one of which is Becky Moore who is the owner of the vintage business, Decadence.
Whilst doing some research I came across the Decadence website or Frock around the Clock as some people may know it. Decadence is the creation of vintage enthusiast Becky Moore. Her visits to different vintage fairs in London were enthralled and Becky was keen to bring a similar vintage shopping experience Northern Ireland. This is when the idea for Frock Around The Clock was born with the first vintage fair taking place November 2008.
On Sunday we were lucky to be part of our first Valentine’s Vintage Fair at the beautiful Clandeboye Courtyard. We worked along side Vintage Rocks and created a pop-up hair and beauty parlour which turned out amazing! The day was packed with fun and wonderful people and by the time they left the pop-up parlour, they all looked stunning.
We are looking forward to next months wedding fair at Malone House on Sunday 3rd March. For anyone getting married you will find the Violets Attic girls there promoting our hen party ideas and packages. I also hope to have a look around the fair myself to maybe find some jewellery and a head piece for my own wedding this year!
Well ladies, that is our latest update..until next time.
I thought I would keep you all up to date with what has been happening in Violets Attic and boy have we been busy bees! One of our crazy fun days was at the beginning of November when we were asked if we would like to take part in a vintage music and fashion show, by doing the make-up for the models and of course we said yes!
Sinead went along to the Black Box where the show was being held to meet up with Anna-Marie for Pin.Up Belfast, who had organised the event to showcase her beautiful clothes along side other retro clothes shops. The style of the clothes were inspired from the 60′s which meant that Sinead could have lots of fun creating a gorgeous 60′s look for each model.
Sinead looked a icons such as twiggy and the typical look of the 60′s was all about the eyes. Ladies wore dramatic eyes, with a lot of mascara, applying sometimes 3 coats or false eyelashes. They wore coloured or dark eyeshadow following the socket line of the eye to give that curved, downward look. Eyeliner was used darken and define and shape of the eyes while the lips were left nude, just a soft shine so that all the attention was drawn to the eye area.
The show was fantastic, it had a great turn out and everyone did an amazing job. Sinead got to meet some wonderful new people and hopefully she will get the chance to work with again in the future.
If you want to take a look at the photos we have posted up pictures of the show on our Facebook page www.facebook.com
